Stress Less, Sis! You Got This!
As Black women, especially as entrepreneurs, most of us have had a moment (or a few moments per week) of, “Whew, Sis…This is TOO much!” But we must remind ourselves that we must not let stress consume us.
Let’s examine some insights into stress, its impact on our health, and how to manage it!
Stress is a natural response to challenging situations and can affect everyone, regardless of gender or race. However, studies have shown that black women experience stress at higher rates and with more intensity than other groups.
The impact of stress on Black women's mental and physical health is significant, as chronic stress can lead to anxiety, depression, hypertension, and other chronic illnesses. It can also affect our relationships, productivity, and overall quality of life.
Therefore, it's crucial to prioritize our mental and physical health, including giving ourselves the grace to acknowledge those times when we may feel stressed, anxious, or depressed. Remember, self-care is not a luxury, it's a necessity. Actively identify ways to reduce stress by practicing self-care, seeking support, and addressing the root causes of stress.
